Discover Spain on this fantastic trip to a country that you’ll love!  This trip is for the single, age 35 and younger, who doesn’t need first class accommodations to have a wonderful vacation and fun!

Enjoy Barcelona, Madrid, Gibraltar, Cordoba, Seville, Granada, the Costa del Sol and 3 nights on the exciting island of Ibiza!  All of these historic and educational sights will give you the chance to experience the friendly culture, art, and history of this beautiful country.  This truly is an active tour for those who enjoy learning about another culture and ending with lots of relaxing fun and sun (Ibiza), and yet it is at a pace to enjoy all the local flavors of this amazing culture of music, dance, and fabulous food.

                                                            Itinerary

 

Day 1                              Depart U.S.A. for Europe

            Leave the U.S. on your overnight flight to Barcelona to begin your European trip!  

 

Day 2                 Arrive Barcelona

           After your arrival in Barcelona, make your way to our hotel and check in. Depending on your flight arrival time you can start exploring!

Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain, and the capital city of Catalonia, and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe due to its good climate and its cultural offerings. It is located along the Mediterranean coast and has 4.5 km of beaches.  The city has over 45 renowned museums and is famous for its unique contemporary architecture and the famous works of architect Antoni Gaudí.

This evening meet your tour guide and fellow passengers for dinner. (D)

 

Day 3                Barcelona

          Our included sightseeing tour is a great introduction to this celebrated city. See Gaudi's Art Nouveau Cathedral, the 1992 Olympic complex, the Gothic district, and you’ll have a chance to experience Barcelona's famed shopping street La Ramblas and discover some of Spain's specialties. Tonight why not experience the passion of Flamenco dancing? (B)

 

Day 4                            Barcelona to Madrid 

          We travel west to Zaragoza and see the impressive and monumental cathedral that this city is famous for- Basilica de Nuestra Senora del Pilar. Then a chance for lunch in this city of four cultures before we head to Madrid! (B,D)

                                                                       

Day 5               Madrid

          Madrid is the largest city in Spain as well as its’ capital and is the largest city in the Iberian peninsula. It is also the third most populous city in the European Union after London and Berlin. Its effect on world history and politics, as well as its major cultural influence, has ranked Madrid one of the main global cities of the world.

Our morning sightseeing includes a guided tour of the Royal Palace. The rest of the day is free for you to discover this amazing city. Perhaps see the Bullring or visit the famous Prado Museum. Tonight, enjoy dinner with friends from the group and a chance to try fabulous traditional Spanish cuisine. (B)

 

Day 6                          Madrid to Cordoba

          Today begins with a morning drive to Toledo, where we see the Gothic cathedral and El Greco's house. We then head south across the plains of La Mancha to Cordoba and into the heart of Andalusia. (B,D)

                                               

Day 7              Cordoba to Seville

          Sightseeing and free time in Cordoba this morning and then we travel to the host city of the 1992 World Expo – Seville- the artistic, cultural, and financial capital of southern Spain.  Join us on our sightseeing tour including Plaza de Espana and then free time- maybe take the opportunity to visit the tomb of Christopher Columbus. Tonight perhaps enjoy ‘tapas’ in this vibrant city center with new friends from the group.  (B)

 

 

Day 8              Seville to Granada

          Today we visit Gibraltar, one of the most densely populated territories in the world, with approximately 11,154 people per square mile. Gibraltar is a United Kingdom overseas territory located near the southernmost tip of the Iberian Peninsula, overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar.  It has historically been an important base for the British Armed Forces and is the site of a British naval base. It is probably most famous for the geological formation, the Rock of Gibraltar.

            After visiting Gibraltar, we travel east through the Sierra Nevada mountains to the town of Granada which is steeped in Moorish history. (B,D)

 

Day 9                          Granada

           Today is your chance to explore the spectacular former residence of the Moorish Kings - the Alhambra Palace. The Alhambra is an ancient mosque, palace and fortress complex of the Moorish monarchs of Granada in southern Spain; it occupies a hilly terrace on the south-eastern border of the city of Granada. It was the residence of the Muslim kings of Granada and their court, but is currently a museum exhibiting beautiful Islamic architecture.

You'll also have a chance to visit the historic Albaicin district of this city.   Dinner with friends from the group tonight-have you tried paella yet? (B)

 

Day 10            Granada to Ibiza

           Today we travel past the Sierra Nevada and Alicante to the Costa Blanca and our Mediterranean port to board our ferry and make our way to the party island of Ibiza!  Here you’ll have the choice to either relax on the island's beaches or party till dawn at one of the island's many clubs. (B,D)

 

Day 11                        Ibiza

     &

Day 12                       Two days to enjoy the beach scene by day and the club scene by night. This is your chance to soak up the atmosphere of this Balearic Island. (B,D)(B,D)

            Ibiza is one of the Balearic Islands located in the Mediterranean Sea belonging to Spain and is most famously known for its summer parties, making it a very popular tourist destination, with thousands of people flooding in for the big summer club nights.

The island is not just known for its party scenes, though, as large portions of the island are registered as U.N. World Heritage Sites, and so are not as commercialized as the main cities. Also, because of its purported natural beauty, companies and artists alike frequently use the island for photographic and film shoots. Spectacular sites can be seen from all over the island and this includes the wonderous Es Vedra which is believed to be one of the worlds most magnetic points.

 

Day 13            Depart Ibiza

           Fond farewells to your fellow travelers as your tour ends after breakfast. (B)

Transfers are not included on this tour. You will be responsible for providing your own transportation from and to the airport in Barcelona on the days of arrival and departure.

Travel Insurance - $109.00. Pay for your insurance with your deposit and you receive “Any-Reason” insurance (in the form of travel certificates to be used within a year with this company) allowing you to cancel for any reason up to 48hours prior to your trip. Double your medical coverage and gain terrorism coverage for only $35.00 additional per person. Travel insurance is highly recommended. Insurance is non-refundable. Does not include air arrangement protection unless air/land package is booked by our tour operator.

Fine Print – 2008 Spanish Spree    Your payment for a reservation on this trip constitutes consent & acknowledgment of all the provisions in this Fine Print listed below & in the Singles Travel Company General Terms & Conditions.  Make sure you read both of these important pieces of information & call with any questions.

A non-refundable deposit of $200.00 (plus travel insurance if you want it) is due with your reservation. 

Final payment is due 60 days prior to departure date.  Credit cards (Visa or Mastercard) or checks (made out to

Travel Advisors of Los Gatos) are accepted.  Cancellations and Refunds – All cancellations must be in writing. Cancellation Fees as follows:  Regardless of when you cancel, there will be a charge from Singles Travel Company of $50 applied to your credit card plus the following cancellation fees: (Insurance is non-refundable also.)

When the percentage cancellation fee is less than the tour deposit, the cancellation fee will equal loss of the deposit. No refunds on unused portions of the tour.  A fee of $30 per transaction may be charged for any alteration or revision made to a reservation.  Cancellation fees also apply to additional accommodations reserved prior to and after the tour booked with the tour operator of the trip.  Due to air carrier guidelines, you may be charged up to a $200 penalty if you cancel your air booked with the tour operator within 120 days of departure. After airline tickets are issued, airline cancellations are per the airline’s policy/ and or the tour operator if purchased through the tour operator and they may be non-refundable.
