Our resort for the week is at the Ixtapan Spa-Hotel & Golf Resort located in the foothills of the Sierra Madres in Mexico. It is located in an unspoiled landscape of picturesque villages, quaint little towns, and archeological treasures. The natural beauty of these surroundings is matched by a near perfect climate, where year-round temperatures average a balmy 75 degrees Fahrenheit.

Our four star, 220 room hotel is located in the little town of Ixtapan de la Sal, 65 miles south west of Mexico City International Airport. From your comfortable room enjoy views of ancient trees and colorful tropical gardens, while listening to the sounds of birds and cascading streams. Over the past few years the resort has transformed itself into a leading spa and golf destination, while remaining true to its tradition of old world charm, friendly service, and casual elegance.

So much is included in our resort package….you have your choice of a spa package or golf package and you’ll enjoy all your meals at two great restaurants-- you have the gourmet spa cuisine or spa meal plan which is nutritionally balanced, low calorie and tasty; two pools, a beautiful golf course, enjoy walking, yoga, aerobics, water aquatics, pilates, and a large work-out room and explore the local area as well take an optional tour to a local town. It's really a wonderful get-away and you’ll feel truly pampered and healthy by the time you leave.

The Resort

Stroll through the hotels’ tropical gardens and discover the many pleasures and surprises of Hotel Spa Ixtapan. Amidst lush fountains and streams, you’ll find two inviting pools for exercise and swimming. Comfortable lounges are the perfect spot to rest or to curl up with your favorite book or magazine. The pool side bar is perfect to enjoy with your friends from the group, or just enjoy a cappuccino under the palm trees of the elegant Terrace Cafe.

A short promenade will take you to the lighted tennis courts for a refreshing game or to brush up on your technique with a pro. Relax in the spectacular new outdoor whirlpool: it’s the perfect place for tired muscles, whether by day, or later, under the starry sky.

A short stroll beyond the resort will take you to Ixtapan de la Sal, the resort’s authentic family town, typical of the region and bustling with life and full of color; offering quaint vistas and charming walks. Visit the outdoor markets or discover an artisan shop for pottery and many other handicrafts. For further explorations, inquire with the concierge to schedule your own guided tour to some of the historical or natural wonders of the region.

For night life the airy resort lounge offers live piano music each evening of the week, and a string quartet plays in ‘Teocali’ every Saturday night. Unwind in the new lobby bar, featuring an international menu of drinks and wines, and a spectacular new aquarium full of exotic, brightly colored tropical fish. Movie buffs can catch a different classic movie featured every night at nine in the private theater.

All the hotel rooms are standard offering comfortable beds, and bathrooms come with either showers or full baths. All rooms are equipped with cable television and offer direct dial phone access. Internet access and computers are available in the internet room. Room service is available for those who prefer private dining.

Restaurants

Experience the spas hospitality in either of two fine restaurants.

--For International dining choices, visit ‘Veranda,’ which is open daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The friendly staff will be happy to serve you with hors d’ouvres, daily entrees of fine meat, poultry and fish selections, home made pastries and deserts, and a choice of fine wines.

--The second restaurant is the "Teocali", a festive place where spa guests gather to enjoy Ixtapan's renowned and celebrated spa cuisine; the place where smart nutrition and the art of fine dining meet. It offers service both gracefully and friendly, and food that is receiving rave reviews. Sample the tantalizing creations of the spa chef, many of which are featured in the Hotel Spa Ixtapan cookbook. This cuisine was especially created for those who wish to loose or maintain their weight, without compromising the pleasures of great food.

Guided Tours

Guided tours/excursions for shopping, exploring, and seeing historical areas can be arranged through the concierge including trips to the colonial town of Taxco; ‘the city of eternal spring’-Cuernavaca; see prehistoric ruins preceding the Aztec Empire at the Teotenango Ruins; visit the La Estrella Caves or the huge grottos at the Cacahuamilpa Caves; or see the small colonial enclave of Toluca which offers a vast array of pottery and stores.

********Transfers are additional to/from the resort/airport (see below under transfers).

Airfare is additional. You can fly roundtrip into and out of Mexico City. Group transfers are much less expensive, so please have your flight arrive into Mexico City airport by early afternoon (1pm at the latest) on May 10 for a transfer to the resort around 3pm. For your flight home on May 17, please make your departure flight after noon as the transfer will have you at the airport by mid morning. The exact time of our transfers will be in your final trip documents. There will be different times of arrival/departures for flights, so there may be a little wait at the airport for the transfers, but we will try our best to coordinate transfers to save you money and time. We’ll need your flight schedule asap. You may want to come in a day early or stay a day later in Mexico City as an option.

Transfers to/from the Resort are additional: The resort is 2 hours from the Mexico City airport and the transfers are a lot less expensive with a group rate. We can offer group rates to you if you follow the above guidelines. We will be able to give you an exact price for the group roundtrip transfer closer to final payment as it will be based on how many we have in the group transfer-it will be anywhere from $45-$85. If you have to fly at other times we can see how many are in that time period and coordinate a smaller group but the transfer rate may be higher.

Travel Insurance is highly recommended and information is available-please inquire.

Price does not include: items of a personal nature, airfare, tips to drivers and local guides, travel insurance, and

alcoholic beverages. Additional treatments and additional gratuities are at your discretion at additional charge.

Fine Print – Your payment for a reservation on this trip constitutes consent and acknowledgement of all the provisions in this Fine Print listed below and in the Singles Travel Company General Terms and Conditions. Please make sure you read both of these important pieces of information and call us with any questions.

Payments: Deposit is $200 by check only. Final payments: Due 60 days prior to departure by check only.

Make checks payable to Travel Advisors of Los Gatos. Cancellation Fees and Refunds: All cancellations must be in writing. Regardless of when you cancel there will be a charge from Singles Travel Company of $50. Insurance is non-refundable. Cancellation Fees as follows: Cancel 61 days or more prior to the trip-full refund of deposit minus $50 cancellation fee. No refund for cancellation 60 days or less prior to trip. No refunds on unused portions of the tour. Cancellation fees also apply to additional accommodations reserved pre and post. After airline tickets are issued, airline cancellations are per the airline’s policy, usually no refund, changeable with a fee. Travel Insurance is highly recommended.
