A Leisurely Week in London--Enjoy this Exciting City over New Years!
Come join us to ring in the New Year 2010 and celebrate with our singles and other jovial travelers in one of the most exciting cities in the world! This 8 days/6 nights vacation gives you a leisurely week to explore London, from its’ fun pubs, to its’ famous and historic past, as well as it great shopping and exploring opportunities. Included guided sightseeing in London includes seeing Buckingham Palace, Downing Street, Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament and many other famous sights.
Our local London professional guide and your social host will be along to help coordinate activities both in and around London, excursions outside London, and lots of fun times.
You’ll have leisure time to explore London and its many attractions, and opportunities to take excursions to the enchanting English countryside! Maybe take an optional full-day excursion to Bath and Stonehenge, Windsor Castle, or Stratford and Oxford or treat yourself to a special dinner followed by a West End show. We’ve given you some ideas for your free time and your social host can assist you also with suggestions. You’ll love London and you’ll know it well after this fun-filled week! --LONDON
Guided half day sightseeing passing such sights as Westminister Abbey, Whitehall, Downing Street, the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben. If held see the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace.
Take a scenic cruise on the Thames where you can view St. Paul’s Cathedral and Shakespeare’s Globe Theater.
Your local guide will be on hand to coordinate optional excursions, local activities and assist you with ideas and things to do in your free time both on your own with friends from the group and group activities.

Itinerary
Day 1, Sun. Dec 27 Depart from Home
Board your overnight transatlantic flight for London and a fun week celebrating the New Year!
Day 2, Mon. Dec 28 Arrival in London
Check into your hotel; depending on your arrival time you can relax or start exploring this lively British capital before our welcome dinner at our hotel where you’ll meet your host and fellow travelers. Also review your week ahead as to what you can arrange and other activities. Afterwards check out the famous London pubs! (D)
Day 3, Tues. Dec 29 London
After breakfast our morning sightseeing with a professional London guide includes passing such sights as Westminister Abbey, Whitehall, Downing Street, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and Big Ben. If held, see the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace. (The Changing of the Guard is subject to occurrence. If it is not taking place, the tour will view Buckingham Palace and visit the Horse Guards parade.)
Then take a scenic cruise on the Thames and view St. Paul’s Cathedral and Shakespeare’s Globe Theater.
Your afternoon is free and at leisure and your guide will assist you with ideas, directions and suggestions as to where and what you want to do. (CB)
Day 4, Wed. Dec 30 through Day 7, Sat. Jan 2 (4 Days) At Leisure in London (CB every day)
--For New Year’s Eve you can watch the fireworks over the Thames and see the New Year’s Day Parade
--Museums & Galleries: The British Museum, The Victoria & Albert, Sir John Soane's Museum, the Natural History and Science Museums, the Museum of London - to pick just a few. --The Tate Modern, Tate Britain and National Galleries: Indulge!
--Tour Kensington Palace
--Visit the famous Harrod’s Department Store
--Enjoy the local pubs and try some fish and chips!
--Afternoon Tea: A favorite meal of the day for some: clotted cream, strawberry jam, Earl Grey Tea and little cucumber sandwiches, perhaps with a cream cake to finish. Maybe Brown’s, The Ritz or Fortnum and Mason.
--Madame Tussauds Wax Museum
--Kew Gardens: The is a great area of gardens that are laid out over acres in a pleasant and wealthy London suburb
--Covent Garden: shops and flower marts
--Day trips to Stonehenge and Bath; Windsor Castle; Stratford on Avon and Oxford; etc.
--Hampton Court: one of the best attractions in Europe-a fantastic park & gardens (including the famous maze)- lots of history.
--The River: Walk along the South Bank-Tower Bridge to Lambeth- see London spread out for you: Parliament, Lambeth Palace, Shakespeare's Globe theatre, the Tate Galleries, St Paul's Cathedral, South Bank Centre, The Temple, The London Eye.
--The Houses of Parliament: When the Prime Minister and the Leader of the Opposition are not sitting you can go on a 75 minute tour of both Commons and Lords.
--The Parks: Lots of parks, you can walk from Westminster to Holland Park (look on the tube map) solely in the parks. The view from the bridge in St James Park towards Whitehall is stunning. Regent's has excellent cultivated gardens and the famous zoo, Hyde Park has Speakers' Corner where fanatics rail and preach, St James Park has the lake and pelicans, Green Park is stately and royal and Kensington Gardens houses the Royal Costume collection. Holland Park has the Orangery and an Opera House.
--The Theatre: Londoners have been passionate about the theatre for centuries- not only is the quality high, but the price is low - one third the price of Broadway. Classical Music and Opera is of a similarly high standard and low price.
Day 8, Sun. Jan 3 Time to Depart!
Yes, it’s time to leave…your homebound flight arrives the same day. (CB)

Airfare: Airfare is not included. You fly into and out of London, England.
Airport Transfers: Transfers are not included but are easy in London from either airport. More information will be in your final documents and we can coordinate arrival and departures to the hotel/airport in London together, if possible, to help with cost. You can arrive and depart anytime but you may want to be in on Monday Dec 28 in time for our welcome dinner to meet everyone by about 6pm. If you get in before check-in time (around 3pm) you can leave your luggage with the front desk and start exploring.
Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is highly recommended for many reasons. Information will be sent to you.
A valid passport is required for travel and the expiration date must be at least 6 months beyond your trip dates. Non-U.S. citizens please check with your local consulate for entrance requirements.
Price does not include airfare, airport transfers, items of a personal nature, alcoholic & other beverages not offered with included meals, tips to guides & drivers, and travel insurance.
Activity Level: Lots of walking and activities and leisure time to relax if you want to.

Your payment for a reservation on this trip constitutes consent and acknowledgement of all the provisions in this Fine Print listed below and in the Singles Travel Company General Terms & Conditions. Make sure you read both of these important pieces of information and call us with any questions. Please fax/mail us the Reservation Form found on our website with your reservation. This is a holiday trip so deposits must be in early!
Payments A deposit of $300.00 is due with your booking.
Final payments due 75 days prior to the trip. Payment by credit card or check (payable to Travel Advisors).
Cancellation Fee and Refunds All cancellations must be in writing. Cancellations 91 days or more prior to the trip will receive a full refund of your deposit, less a $50 cancellation fee applied to your credit card. Any cancellations at 90 days or less prior to the day of departure, no refund will be provided. No refund on unused portions of the trip. After airline tickets are issued, airline cancellation penalties are per the airline’s policy and are usually no refund, but may be changeable with a fee.
