Make time to visit Montmartre, home to the Basilica of the Sacré Coeur. Montmartre has always had a history with artists and has many studios and cafés in the area.  You may want to consider other activities while in Paris including an optional excursion to Versailles to see the famous palace and gardens.  So many decisions!
This evening dinner is at leisure maybe with friends from the group and then another fun night in the city!  (B)

Thurs. Dec. 30                        At Leisure in Paris
After breakfast the day is yours!  Your tour escort will have some ideas for you to help you plan your day. You’ll always find others from the group to join you or maybe join a group going on an excursion!
Don’t miss the twelfth century Gothic cathedral Notre Dame de Paris on the Île de la Cité-see its gleaming stained-glass windows; and don’t miss the nineteenth century Eiffel Tower-(for a great view of Paris take the elevator to the 1st floor).  Also see the Napoleonic Arc de Triomphe where beneath the Arch is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and an eternal flame commemorating the dead of the two world wars. From the roof of the Arch there are spectacular views of Paris.

Maybe visit the trendy boutiques and lavish department stores of Paris, as Paris is one of the shopping capitals of the world! L'Opéra, on the right bank, is home to the capital's popular department stores- Printemps and Galeries Lafayette. Evening is at leisure with friends from the group. Maybe a dinner cruise on the Seine River!(B)

Fri. Dec 31                  At Leisure in Paris-New Year’s Eve
Another day to continue exploring Paris! Maybe leisurely visit some of the museums such as The Louvre Museum -the most visited and one of the oldest, largest, and most famous art galleries and museums in the world. It houses many works of art, including the Mona Lisa  and the Venus de Milo statue.
The Musée d'Orsay on the left bank of the Seine has mainly French art dating from 1848 to 1914, including paintings, sculptures, furniture, and photography, and is probably best known for its extensive collection of impressionist masterpieces by popular painters such as Monet and Renoir.

Since tonight is New Year’s Eve we’ll have a dinner together to celebrate!  Then we’ll join the crowds on the Champs-Elysees or near the Eiffel Tower to welcome in the New Year in a fun and unique way to celebrate!
The ‘City of Light’ really comes ‘alive’ New Years Eve! Locals and visitors come to celebrate together at mostly the Champs Elysées and the Eiffel Tower. If you are planning on starting out your evening at the Champs Elysées, you will end up at the Arc de Triomphe by the stroke of midnight. Everywhere there are thousands of people milling around who are drinking delicious Parisian wine and offering well wishes to anyone within hearing/shouting distance.  So practice your French to do the New Year’s Eve countdown in French…maybe sample some fine champagne…maybe a hot nutella crepe from a sidewalk creperie…all while watching and enjoying the huge crowds on the Champs-Elysees, the Arc de Triomphe or around the Eiffel Tower.  A celebration you won’t soon forget……..come celebrate it with other singles and the world!
