London BridgeOur European vacation begins in London, from its fun pubs, to its famous and historic past, as well as its great shopping and exploring opportunities. Then head through the English countryside, cross the English Channel on your way to Paris, the city that’s known throughout the world for its fashion, art and museums, delicious food, and joie de vivre.  See some of the best known Parisian sights. 
Then on to Switzerland and Lake Lucerne with views of the Fontainebleau Forest, the wine country Burgundy as well as beautiful Alpine scenery before we enter Italy! We travel through the mountain ranges to Venice, with its canals, gondolas, and little quiet piazzas; across the Apennines and countryside into Tuscany and onto Florence. Finally our European vacation ends in Rome!

Itinerary

Day 1 Tues                           Board your overnight transatlantic flight

Day 2 Wed                           Arrive in London, England
               On arrival check into your hotel and depending on your arrival time…start exploring this wonderful and lively British capital.  A local host is available for ideas for exploring today.

Day 3 Thu                            London
                You’ll have a full day to savor our program of optional activities: take a panoramic tour of London’s Landmarks, visit the Tower of London, or choose an excursion to Windsor Castle. (B)

Day 4 Fri                              London-Paris, France
                 Leaving London, traveling through lush English countryside to the Channel port, we board our ferry for the Continent. Here we meet our Tour Director and luxury coach for the drive through the French countryside by way of the fast auto route, arriving in Paris in time to enjoy your first evening here. (B)

ParisDay 5 Sat                              Paris
                 We have a full day to explore the city that’s known throughout the world for its fashions, art and museums, delicious food, and joie de vivre. Our included sightseeing with a local expert explores many of the best-known Parisian sights: La Sorbonne, Arc de Triomphe, Opera, Madeliene, the Eiffel Tower, the Pyramid near the Louvre, the Invalides, and Champs Elysees. Optional excursions are also available to the Palace and Gardens of Versailles. This evening, why not join an optional welcome dinner (B)

Day 6 Sun                             Paris-Lake Lucerne, Switzerland
                  You sit back and see fascinating, ever changing scenery today. See views of Fontainebleau Forest, the wine-growing area of Burgundy, then prosperous farms and tidy half timbered villages as you head through the Alpine heart of Switzerland to picture-book Lake Lucerne. (B, D)

Day 7 Mon                           Lake Lucerne
                  Today we enjoy one of Switzerland’s finest cities, amid its snowcapped Alps, surrounded by its lake, and embellished by the clear mountain waters of the River Reuss. See the impressive city walls, a covered wooden bridge; ornate patrician houses lining cobblestone streets, and the Lion Monument-a masterful stone sculpture in honor of the heroic Swiss Guard of Louis XVI. A grand selection of optional activities completes the day: a cable car ride to the 10,000 – foot summit of Mount Titlis, a cruise on the fjord like lake, a typical Swiss folklore evening, and, of course, time to shop for that very Swiss watch. (B)

Day 8 Tues                           Lake Lucerne-Lugano-Verona-Venice Area, Italy 
                  Today we have more wonderful Alpine scenery as we drive into the mountain ranges that surround the massive St Gotthard. Once through its great tunnel, we’ll start our scenic descent into the warmer and sunnier ambience of the Canton Ticino.
We stop in Lugano-time to walk along the lakeside promenade before crossing into Italy and drive through the Lombardy plains to Verona for a stop to see Juliet’s Balcony. Overnight- Venice Area (B)

Day 9 Wed                           Venice Area
                    Venice is more like a marvelous film set than a real live city, with criss-crossing canals, gondolas and water buses, arched bridges, palaces, and little quiet piazzas. The orientation tour starts with a boat ride and is followed by a chance to watch Venetian glassblowers fashion their delicate objects as they did centuries ago. Later, maybe an optional gondola trip, gliding along the picturesque canals with a local troubadour to serenade you. (B, D)

Day 10 Thu                          Venice Area-Florence Area
                     We start the day by journeying south across the Apennines into the gentle and hilly countryside of Tuscany, then to Florence for an included walking tour with a local guide. (B, D)

Day 11 Fri                            Florence Area-Pisa-Rome     
                   We leave this Renaissance gem and city of the Medicis this morning, stopping in Pisa to see the Square of Miracles and the Leaning Tower before reaching Rome.  Tonight, maybe an optional evening drive through Rome- see spectacular shimmering fountains, magnificent churches, piazzas with dinner. (B)

Day 12 Sat                            Rome
                   Today, our included sightseeing with a local guide starts in St Peter’s Square, followed by a visit to the Roman Forum and the mighty Colosseum. (B)

Day 13.Sun                           Rome and Home
                   Yes, it’s time to go home! Departing Rome, your homebound flight arrives the same day. (B)

Airfare and airfare taxes are additional. You need to fly from the U.S/Canada June 29 or October 5 into London (Heathrow (LHR) or Gatwick (LGW)) arriving the next day June 30 or October 6.  Departure is from Rome (FCO) on July 11 or October 17, arriving home the same day. We can coordinate air flights.

Transfers  are $25 each way ($50) roundtrip and are available only on the dates of the trip. 
Arrival-into Heathrow (LHR) anytime and Gatwick (LGW) only between 6am-3pm
Departure- out of Rome (FCO) anytime

Travel Insurance-   $119.00  +$30 Travel/Trip Cancellation insurance is highly recommended. Ask about Travel Protection Plus for an additional $30.  This additional benefit allows you to cancel your vacation up to 24 hours (or the prior business day, whichever is farther out) before your scheduled departure for any reason not covered by the travel protection plans provisions. With this Protection Plus policy you will be reimbursed for the cancellation penalties with travel vouchers to be used within a year with the tour operator. You must purchase with your deposit if you want a waiver for pre-existing conditions and Travel Protection Plus.  Insurance is not refundable.  Your air is not covered under this policy.  

This is a Special Trip Offering -We are offering this great trip for our singles but if we do not get enough for a full bus of singles the tour may not be exclusively single but that’s no reason not to take advantage of this incredible vacation and opportunity as the group will have a professional, local tour director to lead your trip. Also, you’ll be able to meet your fellow single travelers via email prior to the trip and we’ll make sure there is a time and place for our singles to meet the first night. Hope you can join us!

Activity Level  You’ll encounter lots of walking; some walking on uneven surfaces/ cobblestone; and possibly stairs to access some areas.

Weather The summer should be warm-mid 70s’, 80’s; cooler in the mornings and evenings. The fall will be cooler, in the 60’s, with colder mornings and nights. There is the possibility of rain either time period.

Passports: are required for all U. S./Canadian citizens. No visas required. Non-U.S. citizens check with your respective consulate.

Price does not include- items of a personal nature-i.e. phone calls, meals not included, alcoholic & other beverages not offered with included meals, tips to guides & drivers, travel insurance, and airfare.

Your payment for a reservation on this trip constitutes consent and acknowledgement of all the provisions in this Fine Print below and in the Singles Travel Company General Terms and Conditions. Make sure you read both of these important pieces of information and call with any questions and to sign up for this trip.

A non refundable deposit of $250.00 (plus travel insurance if you want it) is due with your reservation.
Final Payment- is due 70 days prior to departure date.  Credit Cards (Visa or MasterCard) or checks (payable to Travel Advisors of Los Gatos) are accepted.

Cancellation Fees and Refunds:
     All cancellations must be in writing.  Regardless of when you cancel there will be a charge from Singles Travel Company of $50.  Also insurance is non-refundable.

Within 14 days of departure                                           100% of total price/ insurance/ $50 service fee

No refunds on unused portions of the tour.  A fee of $30 per transaction may be charged for any alteration or revision made to a reservation.  Note that if you have a roommate and he/she cancels after final payment due date, we will do everything to find a new match. However, if no match is found, the difference in cost for a single room is the responsibility of the guest who cancels. No refund will be given to the guest who cancels, regardless of the tour company policy as stated above. We are not responsible for costs related to cancellations after our cutoff date.  Cancellation fees also apply to additional accommodations reserved prior to and after the tour booked with the tour operator of the trip.   After airline tickets are issued, airline cancellations are per the airline’s policy (usually non refundable and changeable with a fee and/ or the tour operator if purchased through the tour operator. Per our tour operator, hotels are always subject to change.
