Itinerary

Day 1, Aug 6               Depart for Europe
Depart your hometown city for your overnight flight to start your European vacation in
wonderful Italy!

Day 2, Aug 7               Arrive Rome
After arriving into Rome, transfer to our hotel.  Depending on your flight arrival time you can start exploring Rome! However, make sure you are back to the hotel in time to meet your travel buddies and Tour Manager over dinner.
Get into the thriving atmosphere of this exciting city by seeing the Colosseum, the Pantheon, Piazza Venezia and Piazza Navona. Honor tradition at the Trevi Fountain and throw a coin in the fountain’s waters (it’s meant to improve your chances of returning to Rome!). Maybe hang out with your new friends at the Spanish Steps, sit back and people-watch. (D)

Day 3, Aug 8               Rome
You have a free day today to take off into the city and absorb the atmosphere, as vespas flash past timeworn monuments that are surrounded by fountains, pizzerias, cafes and bars. Maybe live the local lifestyle by indulging in a long lunch on a paved piazza or knock back a shot of espresso at the bar, like the Romans do.
Take time for shopping, but before you hit the shops, let your Tour Manager point you in the right direction with some tips on the best buys. Or maybe take an optional tour with a local guide’s inside knowledge of the Roman Forum and Colosseum.
Then hook up with your new friends and make your last night in Rome one to remember with an optional dinner. At a popular pizzeria, you’ll enjoy pizza as it was meant to be (with a thin crispy crust, fresh tomato and loaded with delicious mozzarella). Learn a thing or two about making them as you watch a professional piazzolo demonstrate how it’s done. But don’t stop there – afterwards dive into Rome’s night action with your buddies and start your travels off with a night to remember! (CB)

Day 4, Aug 9               Rome to Florence
Today check-out the smallest country in the world and home to the Pope, the Vatican City. See St Peter’s Basilica and perhaps visit the Vatican museums to view Michelangelo’s masterpiece, the Sistine Chapel.
Leaving town we cruise through rural Umbria and terraced vineyards to breathtaking Florence, the Renaissance city set in the beautiful Tuscan hills. Learn about the Duomo, Giotto’s Bell-Tower, Piazza della Signoria, the Bapistry and Santa Croce as our local guide walks us through the city.
Some free time to shop or visit one of the famous museums. Tonight, we eat together in a humming local restaurant, right in the heart of Florence. (CB,D)

Day 5, Aug 10             Florence
With a free day, you’ve got plenty of time to get a feel for Florence. Uncover the amazing masterpieces of Michelangelo’s Florence. Maybe watch a Florentine leather craft demonstration, shop along the pretty Ponte Vecchio or the city’s local markets, or get inspired at the famous Uffizi Gallery and see the paintings from the masters like Da Vinci and Raphael.  This evening, maybe enjoy an optional group dinner at an authentic Tuscan feast before hitting up the Florentine nightlife. (CB)

VeniceDay 6, Aug 11             Florence
Today, we get out into the fantastic Tuscan countryside, known for its iconic cypress trees and delicious olive oil. Spend the morning in historic San Gimignano, the stunning hill-top town that is often dubbed “medieval Manhattan”.  In an historic villa, the group will see a working winery, where you can learn more about the regions wines as you taste a glass or two of the local wine. Later, we head back to Florence for an evening at your leisure. (CB)

The Leaning Tower of Pisa, Tuscany, Italy has been viewed 394361 timesDay 7, Aug 12                         Florence to Venice

Day 8, Aug 13                         Venice
This morning we take a motor boat through the waters of the lagoon to visit Venice’s city’s historical heart. The limestone Bridge of Sighs, the gothic arches of Doges’ Palace and the expanse of St. Mark’s Square (pigeons and all!) show off Venice’s unique beauty.  Learn about local artistry with a traditional glass blowing demonstration.
In your free time explore St. Mark’s Basilica, the Doges’ Palace or the Guggenheim museum. Why not join us later on a gondola ride through the canals of this amazing city? Take a bottle of prosecco (Italian champagne) and toast this unforgettable experience. (CB)
