The Iguassu Falls are located at the border of Brazil and Argentina with National Parks on both sides of the falls. 70% of Iguassu Falls is located on Argentinean territory, but most of the Falls face Brazil, so it is advisable to see the Falls from both the Brazilian and Argentinean sides. The natural border between the countries is the Iguassu River.
The falls are in a horseshoe form, 1.6 miles wide between the two countries and these Falls are 60 feet higher than falls at Niagara Falls and about one and a half times as wide. The biggest attraction is "Devil’s Throat" where the largest volume of water passes with a strong and impressive roar that can be heard several miles away.
The Falls are without a doubt majestic and breathtaking. The environment is rich in vegetation and fauna and there are about 400 species of birds including five members of the toucan family and over 100 species of butterflies.
Day 6, Thurs. Nov 25 Iguassu Falls to Buenos Aires
We have a morning departure for Argentina, where we’ll have a whole new view of the falls. We cross into Argentina via the Friendship Bridge and clear Argentine customs. Then walk along the river’s edge where a myriad of flora and fauna inhabits this semi-tropical area. We’ll cross small bridges over tiny waterfalls, climb up the embankment to lookout points, and finally arrive at the main part of the falls, the Devil’s Throat. On the Argentine side you will be able to walk in and out of the falls, and you can view the Devil’s Throat from the top down. We’ll have time to buy some lunch at the visitor center after the tour before we are transferred to the airport on the Argentine side of the falls for our flight to cosmopolitan Buenos Aires.
